Used many a chimney sweeps, some good, some bad, some indifferent, that’s if they turn up….some turn.up simply shake their head because my chimney is unlined. Over recent years due to fuel crisis I have found it increasingly difficult to get my chimney swept. Several companies have stated it is obligatory to have all chimneys lined. Any reputable company would know a liner is only obligatory when installing a wood burning stove, gas fire or open fire in a new build property to comply with Document J of current Building Regulations. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Dan for the first time. After inspecting my wood burner and checking the condition of flue, was able to quickly sweep my chimney, order new fire bricks on my behalf to refurbish my wood burner. I look forward to meeting him again on his return in a couple of weeks with ordered parts to complete job.
